What's for Dinner?

Appetizer

Brussels sprouts for the appetizer because they are green but they taste good just like how Woodward and Bernstein were junior editors but they cracked open this huge case and turned out to be very good investigative journalists. There will also be an assortment of cheeses to represent how something smelly was going on in the White House. 

Entrée

The main course will be lobster and mashed potatoes. The lobster represents how the Watergate case was cracked open by Woodward and Bernstein and the mashed potatoes represent the mashing of the constitution by Nixon and how the people's trust in the government was crushed by this scandal. 


Dessert

Dessert will be peach pie and vanilla ice cream. This pie will represent the fact that Nixon almost got impeached and the ice cream represents the fact that Nixon got cold feet and resigned before he could be impeached.

12 Years a Slave  This picture is from  africana-studies.williams.edu .  A movie must be made with the mindset of educating people to be able to accomplish that feat. 12 Years a Slave was made into a movie with the intention of being historically accurate and poignant, and because of that simple truth it is not just possible but unavoidable that you learn about history from this movie. This is proven through a comparison between the movie and a slave narrative of the same time period, interviews with a member of the cast as well as the director, and a historical film critic's perspective of the movie. It is made evident through the similarities between movie   12 Years a Slave and the Slave narrative Incidents in The Life of a Slave Girl , by Harriet Ann Jacobs, that a great deal of historical information can be taught from a movie.
